Indian Ocean Expedition: Monaco Explorations's discoveries published in a leading scientific journal

International scientific promotion

Following the 2022 mission to the western Indian Ocean, Monaco Explorations are taking a new step in the dissemination of its scientific results.

On March 22, 2023, the expedition’s Advisory Committee decided to devote a special issue to all the work carried out, in order to offer an integrated vision and strengthen its scope. After a selection phase based on criteria of accessibility, impact and visibility, the choice fell on Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography.

A special issue in 2025

Entitled “Deep Sea Research Part II: Tropical Studies in Oceanography, Volume 224, December 2025, 105551“, this issue brings together eight scientific articles, introduced by an editorial. Not all the expedition’s projects are included: some publications will be published later in other journals.

These articles are freely available for one year, enabling a wide audience – scientists, decision-makers and the general public – to discover the results of the expedition.

Eight articles at the heart of ocean issues

These contributions cover a wide spectrum of research, from the exploration of marine biodiversity to the study of the functioning of tropical ecosystems. They also address the impacts of climate change and highlight the contribution of innovative technologies to the exploration of marine environments.

Continuing momentum

This special issue is a milestone in the scientific development of the expedition. It illustrates the ability of Moanco Explorations to mobilize an international community around a common goal: to better understand and preserve the ocean.
