Climate change

On the last evening of his visit to the Badu island, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, accompanied by Robert Calcagno, Director of the Oceanographic Institute and the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, held a council with the “Elders” of the community, with whom he discussed the issues related to global warming. The Sovereign has been an attentive witness to the concerns of the islanders and to the threats coming with these global changes not only to their physical environment but also to their social future. The erosion of their coast, combined with the erosion of their ancestral culture, make them fear a disappearance of their island and way of life, their language, and consequently their heritage.
